Solar Warranty Guide Malaysia
How to read panel, inverter and workmanship warranties before you commit to a residential solar system.
Quick links
Solar warranties can sound straightforward until you discover that the panels, inverter, installation workmanship and optional services are covered by different parties and different terms. The useful question is not “how long is the warranty?” but “what does each warranty cover, and what do I do if there is a problem?”
The four warranty types to understand
| Warranty type | What it usually addresses | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Panel product | Defects in the panel itself | Which model is covered, for how long, and by whom? |
| Panel performance | Specified long-term output performance | What performance level and testing process apply? |
| Inverter | The device that converts solar electricity for household use | What is the manufacturer’s term and local support route? |
| Workmanship | Installation-related defects within the stated scope | What work is covered and what is excluded? |
These terms do not automatically replace one another. A panel performance warranty, for example, is not the same as a promise that all installation work or electrical components will be covered for the same period.
Verdant Solar warranty terms to confirm in your proposal
For the standard terms confirmed for this content, Verdant Solar’s panel product warranty is 12 years and its panel performance warranty is 30 years. The standard inverter warranty is 10 years. Workmanship coverage is 24 months by default, with an extended workmanship warranty available for a total of 48 months.
Included cover and optional services are not the same
Maintenance, insurance and protection plans may be optional rather than included in the base system price. Verdant’s four-year Tune Protect coverage is an add-on option, and maintenance visits are also an add-on rather than included by default. Maintenance for the stated performance guarantee must be carried out at least once every two years.
Ask whether an add-on is required to maintain a warranty, recommended for system care, or simply an optional service. Those are different decisions and should not be bundled together in your mind.
What happens if you sell the home or need to make a claim?
For the terms confirmed here, Verdant warranties can be transferred when the house is sold, but the customer must inform Verdant. Keep all handover records, invoices, serial numbers and correspondence together so that a future owner has the documents needed to continue the process.
Before purchase, ask who receives the first fault report, how evidence is assessed, whether labour is covered, and what conditions can void or limit a claim.

A practical warranty checklist
- Get each warranty type and duration in writing.
- Confirm the exact models covered.
- Read maintenance, registration and notification requirements.
- Ask whether transfer to a new homeowner is possible and how it works.
- Keep your final proposal and handover pack somewhere accessible.
The bottom line
A good warranty is specific, documented and usable. Focus on what is covered, who stands behind it and how you will get help—not only on the longest number in the proposal.
