Is Solar Installation Complicated?

What do you think? Is solar installation a complicated process? While looking at those rectangular devices on rooftops, we often wonder how they got up there in the first place. Well, you’ll understand the process soon enough.

We will of course start with an in-depth site survey and a solar PV system. Our solar solution consultant will schedule a time to meet with you at your home to discuss the benefits of installing the solar system and understand your goal of going solar. During this process, you will be free to ask any questions to get a better understanding of solar panels and the process of installing them.

Once that is over, we will explain and show you the optimal options for your home. This will include the pricing and financing options through a proposal. After discussion, if you decide to install solar panels, you will be given a contract to sign. By this time, you will have a full understanding of what is in store for you after installing solar panels.

Next would be an important step. Your customer experience team will request all the necessary permits for your solar installation. This process is to secure your solar energy quota from SEDA, and it takes about 10 days.

Once your SEDA application is approved, we’ll schedule the installation. This process takes about less than 8 hours a day on a sunny day and is installed by a team of highly skilled installers. Some of our team members have years of experience dealing with solar panels, so know that your home is in good hands!

When your solar PV system is ready, TNB will send executives to check the TNB meter compatibility and technical readings of the electricity supply. Your TNB meter could be replaced with a new smart meter (if necessary) for you to track and adjust your energy usage. When everything is set, you can start saving on your electricity bill by turning on the solar system!

Solar Installation Processes

Firstly, solar installation can be a relatively straightforward or a more complicated process depending on a number of factors, such as the size and complexity of the system, the location and condition of the property, the local regulations and permitting requirements, and the level of expertise of the installer.

In general, the installation process involves several key steps, including assessing the property’s solar potential, designing the system, obtaining permits and approvals, preparing the site, installing the panels, connecting the system to the electrical grid, and testing the system’s performance.

While some DIY solar panel installation kits are available, it is generally recommended to hire a professional solar installer for more complex systems, particularly those involving rooftop installation or large-scale ground-mounted systems. Professional installers have the knowledge, experience, and equipment needed to ensure a safe and effective installation, as well as navigate the various regulatory requirements.

In summary, solar installation can be complex, but it ultimately depends on the specific circumstances of the project. It is best to consult with a professional installer to determine the appropriate steps for your particular installation.

For small-scale residential installations, the process can be relatively straightforward, with the installer assessing the site for feasibility, designing the system, obtaining the necessary permits, and then installing the panels on the roof or ground mount. Some jurisdictions also require the system to be connected to the grid, which involves additional paperwork and coordination with the local utility.

However, for larger and more complex solar installations, such as commercial or utility-scale systems, the process can be more complicated and require significant planning, engineering, and construction work. This may involve land acquisition, site preparation, electrical and structural engineering, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

In either case, it’s important to ensure that the installation is done by a qualified and experienced installer who is licensed, insured, and knowledgeable about local codes and regulations. Fortunately for you, Verdant Solar is here to help you in the best possible way!
