SolaRIS Rebate: Claim the RM4000 Before April 2025

Exciting news for Malaysian homeowners: The government’s updates to the National Energy Metering (NEM) program make it easier to switch to solar panels and claim up to RM4000 SolaRIS rebates. Here’s what you need to know:
The NEM Rakyat quota has been increased by 150 megawatts (MW), bringing the total to 600MW. This means more Malaysian households can utilize their rooftops to harness solar energy. Similarly, the NEM Nova quota has been expanded by 300MW for businesses and agricultural users, totaling 1,700MW. This move aims to help corporate entities fulfill their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments while supporting agricultural users in transitioning to renewable energy.
These quotas are now open for applications until June 30, 2025, or until they are fully allocated—whichever comes first.
In addition to the NEM updates, the government has extended the Solaris rebate program, offering homeowners an RM4000 rebate for solar panel installations until April 2025, subject to eligibility terms and conditions.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, over 667 homeowners have already seized this opportunity, installing solar panels and benefiting from the rebate. However, this could be your last chance to take advantage of this initiative. After April 2025, there is no guarantee that similar rebates will be available.
