Empowering the B40 Community with PJ UP

A Journey Towards Solar Energy Mastery

Verdant Solar embarked on a partnership with the PJUP TVET Program that has brought solar energy training and practical experience to individuals from the B40 community. This initiative aimed to equip participants with the skills needed to thrive in the growing field of solar energy while fostering a sustainable future. Over the course of several weeks, our trainees embarked on a comprehensive program that covered everything from foundational knowledge to hands-on installation experience. Here’s a breakdown of the program that led to their success.

Theory Class

The program kicked off with a solid foundation in solar energy principles. Participants attended theory classes that covered the basics of solar energy, photovoltaic (PV) systems, and the technical aspects of solar installations. This stage was crucial in providing the necessary theoretical understanding that would later be applied in practical scenarios.

Training Day

Following the theory classes, trainees moved on to practical training sessions. Here, they were introduced to the tools, equipment, and safety protocols required for solar installations. This hands-on experience allowed them to gain confidence in handling the components of PV systems and prepare for real-world applications.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting Techniques

As part of their training, participants were also taught how to maintain PV systems and troubleshoot common issues. This stage was designed to ensure that they could not only install but also maintain solar systems, providing long-term value to the communities they would serve.

Practical Site Day

The highlight of the program was the practical site day, where trainees applied their skills in a real-world setting. They participated in actual solar site installations, working alongside experienced professionals. This day was instrumental in solidifying their understanding and enhancing their practical skills, making them well-prepared for future projects.

Exam Day

After completing the training, participants took a solar energy examination to assess their knowledge and skills. The exam was a culmination of all they had learned throughout the program, and we are proud to report that our trainees passed with flying colors, demonstrating their readiness to contribute to the solar energy sector.

Closing Ceremony

The program concluded with a celebratory closing ceremony, where we recognized the hard work and achievements of our participants. It was a moment of pride as we watched our B40 trainees, now graduates, receive their certificates and prepare to embark on their careers in solar energy. Notably, two trainees have transitioned into roles as our solar installers, and 42 underprivileged individuals have directly benefited from this program.Their journey from theory classes to real-world installations has been inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments. They’ve discovered how solar energy can revolutionize our world and now, equipped with knowledge and passion, they are ready to pave the way to a sustainable future. We also wanna give a big shout out  to our Project team members who are Kishen Mohan, Hanzalah Hani and Asyraf Amidin for monitoring the trainees and making this training a great success. This collaboration not only supports the growth of solar energy but also fosters a sustainable future. We commend the dedication and achievements of all participants.

Each species plays a vital role in the Malaysian ecosystem, Pelong and Merbau enhance biodiversity and provide timber, Jelawai stabilizes soil, Meawan supports wildlife, and Meranti Teman Nipis aids in forest regeneration.

This initiative significantly benefits the environment by improving biodiversity, soil quality, and wildlife habitats, underscoring our dedication to a greener future and the importance of our collective actions in preserving the environment for future generations.

Verdant Solar x INTI :UCO to Biofuel

Verdant Solar and INTI University Students Team Up to Turn Used Cooking Oil into Biofuel for Charity

Verdant Solar worked together with students from INTI University on a project that promotes sustainability and community support. This project involved collecting Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and turning it into biofuel. This collaboration was a joint effort between the students from INTI, Verdant Solar, and FatHopes Energy. The main aim of this project was to promote sustainability by converting a common household waste, Used Cooking Oil (UCO), into biofuel. The money raised from selling the UCO to FatHopes Energy was donated to the Global Environment Centre (GEC), highlighting both environmental and social benefits. The students helped recycle 152 Kgs of UCO and exceeded their goal by 52%, showing the significant impact of their efforts.

The project was centered around a simple but powerful idea, adhering to proper disposal of UCO and educating the general population on it. Proper disposal of used cooking oil is very important. If not disposed of correctly, it can lead to water and soil pollution, increased greenhouse gas emissions, and harm to wildlife. Recycling oil into biodiesel or using recycling programs for disposal are good ways to reduce these problems. Such practices help protect the environment and promote sustainability.

The final part of the project took place at Verdant’s office in an elaborate and interactive presentation by students, where they shared their journey. The students talked about how they collected the oil, the problems they faced, and how they solved them. As we look to the future, projects like these will help create a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly world.

Empowering Underprivileged Communities

Verdant Solar’s Impactful Social Media Initiative with INTI University

Verdant Solar concluded a successful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project using the power of social media to raise funds for three noble beneficiaries: Pertiwi Soup Kitchen, Good Samaritan Home, and Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak Kanak Istimewa Insan. Pertiwi Soup Kitchen provides meals for the homeless and underprivileged, Good Samaritan Home offers shelter and care for orphans, and Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak Kanak Istimewa Insan supports children with special needs. By raising funds and awareness, the project aimed to provide much-needed resources and support to these organizations enhancing their capacity to serve. This initiative, driven by the involvement of a Social Media class from INTI University, not only overachieved its goals but also provided invaluable real-world experience for participating students.

The project’s key activities took place at the Verdant Solar office and the INTI University campus. Spanning several months, the project ended with a grand Fundraiser Bazaar event. This event became the highlight of the campaign, drawing in crowds and significantly contributing to the project’s success.

Verdant’s role as project manager was central to the initiative’s success. We guided the students in creating a dedicated social media account on Instagram to promote the Fundraiser Bazaar event. This online platform became a hub of activity, where students showcased their creativity and marketing strategies. Through engaging posts, stories, and live updates, they managed to attract a significant following and generate buzz around the event. The Fundraiser Bazaar itself was a vibrant and diverse marketplace, featuring a wide range of vendors selling goods and food. The community’s response was overwhelmingly positive and the funds generated from the bazaar were then converted into donations for the beneficiaries.

The project’s impact was profound, far exceeding initial expectations. The goal was to impact 100 people and raise as many funds as possible. In the end, a total of 524 individuals were directly impacted by the initiative, a remarkable achievement showcasing the project’s reach and effectiveness. A significant amount was raised by our fundraising efforts in turn providing crucial support to the beneficiaries, enabling them to continue their important work.

Verdant Solar: Light of Hope Campaign

Light of Hope

In conjunction with Deepavali 2021, each person who signs up for a solar home with Verdant Solar during the Light of Hope campaign will provide five meals to children in need.

Hence, we’ve reached out to a group of refugee children from React School, Subang Jaya where not only we provided them food, back to school kit, but spent some time to have some fun activities together. We want them to enjoy the hope & joy just like the rest of us.

We believe that by reaching out to the communities, more children would receive love and warmth, and grow up happily to be leaders of the future. The next generation deserve more from us.
